WHO WE ARE
Student Advocates
Ninety Percent Society is a group of undergraduate Dalhousie University students who feel passionate about mental health and social justice. The society includes students in a variety of programs and years of study. The lived experience, compassionate attitude, and collaborative skills of this diverse group allows for informed, progressive advancements in the sector of eating disorder treatment.
In 2020, Ninety Percent Society was created in response to continuous experiences of frustration with the lack of eating disorder treatment available to those who need it. Upon its establishment, the society partnered with local non-profit organization, Eating Disorders Nova Scotia (EDNS), in order to extend the community to which EDNS's services reach.
Ninety Percent Society values education and outreach; employing primarily social media to communicate with the general Dalhousie University community. Recovery from eating disorders is made accessible through the resources for treatment gathered by the society in accordance with EDNS and other non-profit groups. In addition, Ninety Percent Society is devoted to easing the load of seeking treatment by suggesting resources relevant to any experience.
