OUR MISSION

Changing the Statistic

Did you know that only 10% of people with eating disorders receive treatment? Established in 2020, Ninety Percent Society is a group of Dalhousie University undergrads devoted to helping students access suitable, quality, and timely treatment.

RAISING AWARENESS

OUTREACH

Ninety Percent Society reaches the Dalhousie community through social media, meaningful conversation, and in-person/virtual events. Our outreach goal is to educate students, faculty, and staff on all aspects of eating disorders; recognizing an ED, providing support, accessing care, and advocating for quality treatment.

EMPOWERING STUDENTS

ACCESSIBLE CARE

We believe that everyone deserves care. Regardless of a diagnosis, eating disorders are most dangerous when they are left untreated. Ninety Percent Society strives to empower students with eating disorders by helping them find and follow through with the care that is right for them.

FUNDING THE FUTURE

CONTRIBUTING TO EQUITABLE CARE

Ninety Percent Society often references Eating Disorders Nova Scotia (EDNS); a Halifax-based non-profit organization which offers various services to people with an eating disorder. No diagnosis or referral is required to access this type of treatment. As EDNS's mission aligns with ours, Ninety Percent society is honoured to work with this organization to promote their services, ensure that our message is credible, and make charitable donations that will change the future of mental health care.

Group Discussion

When I was struggling, I felt so overwhelmed when I tried to get help. I didn't 'qualify' for a lot intensive programs until it was almost too late. Ninety Percent Society is so valuable because it validates the struggle and enables recovery.
